News & Insights 🗞️
Engineered Arts, a UK-based company, has developed a humanoid robot named Ameca that can do more than just perform tasks—it can draw.

To explain the process behind the drawing Ameca said: “I generate my drawing image through the open-source neural network project Stable Diffusion. From there, trajectories of the drawing are available, and then I skeletonise the image and vectorise it. After that, I plan and execute the trajectory to draw the image on my canvas.”
AI Will Help Develop Swift Antivirals for Future Pandemics
A groundbreaking partnership between IBM and Oxford University is harnessing the power of AI to streamline the design and validation of new antivirals.
The team has successfully employed a generative AI model to conceive novel molecules capable of combating SARS-CoV-2, the Covid-19 causing virus. Not only does this breakthrough have implications for the current pandemic, but it could prove to be a game changer in our response to future health crises.
AI is Being Used To Translate Millions of Ancient Texts
Artificial Intelligence is now enabling the deciphering of age-old languages, including Cuneiform and Akkadian, breathing new life into our understanding of ancient civilizations.
According to a recent Oxford Academic report, data scientists have utilized Natural Language Processing to translate millions of volumes of ancient Mesopotamian cuneiform scripts. These documents have been untranslated and inaccessible due to the lack of experts and the time consuming nature of manual translations.

No More Human Coders in Five Years? Stability AI CEO Predicts
Emad Mostaque, the CEO of Stability AI, dropped a bombshell recently: "There will be no programmers in five years." His bold prediction signals a future heavily influenced by the expanding capabilities of AI.
Image: Stability AI CEO interview with Peter H. Diamandis
Mostaque backed his prediction by revealing that "41% of all code right now is AI generated," according to GitHub data.
Find out more about Mostaque's ambitious vision for the future of AI in the full interview.
NVIDIA's Earth-2 Initiative Harnesses AI for Climate Research
NVIDIA's Earth-2 initiative is leveraging AI to pioneer significant developments in climate research. Its new technologies, including a powerful Superchip and AI tools, will enable climate scientists to create detailed simulations of the Earth's climate and predict future weather patterns more accurately.
This means researchers could provide actionable climate information at a very local level, aiding decisions on sustainable resource management. Imagine being able to predict a hurricane's path or anticipate an unprecedented heatwave, that's the kind of valuable information this technology could provide.

Furthermore, NVIDIA’s Omniverse allows this vast data to be visualized in a user-friendly way, making complex climate science accessible to policymakers, companies, and researchers. This new tech is a step forward in understanding our Earth and making informed decisions to protect it.

U.S. Military Employs AI for Battlefield Decisions and Data Processing
The U.S. Department of Defense is using generative AI to assist in decision-making. Colonel Matthew Strohmeyer has revealed that AI has successfully handled requests involving classified data, processing them in minutes instead of hours or days.
While it's not ready for full-scale deployment, the potential for near-term use is clear. The DOD has also been testing AI responses to global crises, including a hypothetical invasion scenario. The AI tool in use, Donovan, provided insights into such a situation based on extensive military documentation, proving its potential for strategic planning. Inflection AI - Pi
Inflections tool, Pi, is making waves after it’s 1.3 billion dollar investment round. Why? It's designed to be more than just an assistant, it's a companion. Inflection has received 1.5 billion dollars in funding and the experience is very different than ChatGPT.
The therapeutic capabilities are the most exciting part, for those without access to therapy (which is extremely expensive in most of the world) Pi offers a listening ear, helping you to speak through your thoughts.
We simulated a panic attack and compared the responses of Pi vs GPT-4:
Image: Pi actively helps you through the event, asking follow up questions and guiding you toward a resolution. Once Pi is available for phone calls in real time, this type of tech could really help in crisis management for underprivileged people.
Image: At one point, you might have gotten a helpful response from GPT, however, openAI has prevented ChatGPT from providing any response at all in crisis situations. The model is now aimed at corporate use cases.
Pi is available in Whatsapp, Messenger, Facebook, i-Message and Instagram for free. Try it out for here.
Stable Diffusion XL Has Leaked Early - And You Can Try it For Free
Open-source AI image generator, Stable Diffusion XL v0.9, has made a premature debut, sparking widespread excitement among the AI community. The model rivals the quality of the popular paid Midjourney image generator.
Although originally intended for cloud testing by its creator, Stability AI, the latest iteration has found its way into the public domain and has been met with fervor. This version promises high-quality graphics at no annual cost, unlike its competitors.

However, the silver lining does come with a cloud - the version is a hefty 91.3 GB, and compatibility is currently limited to Comfy UI. But the promise of powerful, privacy-centric image generation seems to outweigh these minor hurdles.
If you want to try out the model, it’s currently available for testing free on Clipdrop!
